Apuntolapospo, a Grupo Vértice 360 Company, was responsible for the technical direction and post-production of MAGIC JOURNEY TO AFRICA



MAGIC JOURNEY TO AFRICA, written and directed by Jordi Llompart, is the first feature film filmed entirely in stereoscopic 3D to be produced in Europe. The really original thing about this film is that it combines real images, shot in 3D, in the deserts and savannahs of Africa, with CGI.

MAGIC JOURNEY TO AFRICA is one of the most ambitious and innovative productions of the last few years, conceived from the very beginning for stereoscopic screening. Apuntolapospo, a Grupo Vértice 360 company, has been involved with the film since the beginning, participating in the 3D filming, handling the technical direction, and the post production, which included the complex task of integrating the real images with the CGI. After two years of research, the Apuntolapospo team developed a workflow specifically for stereoscopic post-production with real images, and MAGIC JOURNEY TO AFRICA is the first project to be completed using this new technology. What's more, the Vértice 360 subsidiary also produced the DCDM digital master of the film and the DCP copies for its digital exhibition.


Produced by Órbita Max in collaboration with Caixa Catalunya, Televisió de Catalunya, Mesfilms and Apuntolapospo, the film stars Leonor Watling, Verónica Blume, Adrià Collado and the child actors Eva Gerretsen and Raymond Mvulan.

MAGIC JOURNEY TO AFRICA tells the story of a ten year-old girl's journey to Africa in search of a young boy Bushman whom she met on the streets of Barcelona. Through dreams, magic and imagination, the lead character travels across the real world in an unforgettable adventure meeting people, animals and spirits in the deserts and grasslands of Africa. MAGIC JOURNEY TO AFRICA is a spiritual journey for adults and a magical journey for children, full of mystery, adventure and discovery.

MAGIC JOURNEY TO AFRICA opens on May 7th in 3D cinemas, on IMAX screens and in 35mm.
